About the Spots and What You Will See

Spot A:  This is the only spot you can pretty much watch airplanes from.  Walk towards the restaurant (yes, you can grab something nice to eat as well!) and you'll see some benches.  You can sit there and watch the activity all you want!  I have been here many times back when I was younger and love watching the activity taking place!  Runway 8/26 is about 1,000 feet in front of you, so if you wanted to take pictures, you need at least 500 mm, but remember, you're dealing with small planes.  South Jersey Regional Airport is home to the Air Victory Museum, and depending on what day you decide to go out to the airport, the museum might be open.  If you do go to the airport, I would very highly recommend you take some time and check out the museum.  They are open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM and closed on most federal holidays.

As far as what you'll see at South Jersey Regional Airport, the airport's runway can bring in twin-engine airplanes like a Piper Seneca, Beech Baron, and Cessna 310.  I have seen jets fly in and out, even with the runway being 3,900 feet long.  In years past, I have seen a Beech King Air 350, Learjet 35, L-39 Albatross, Fouga Magister, and an F-86 Sabre fly out of there.  The Sabre actually belonged to the owner of the airport, Steve Snyder.  Sadly, he was killed in June 2000 when he had an accident with the Sabre at the airport while putting on a private demonstration for some people.  Prepare to see general aviation and maybe a warbird or two, if you're lucky.  WTXF has their news helicopter based out of South Jersey Regional, so you might get lucky and see that flying around or on the ground!  Your best bet is to come by on a Saturday or Sunday, considering most of the pilots who base their airplanes out of South Jersey Regional work during the week and fly on the weekends.

ALSO, if you decide to spot on the weekends, and the weather is nice and not too windy, check out what's on the other side of Stacy Haines Road!  The New Jersey Pine Barrens Radio Controlled Model Airplane club has a field located across from the airport and usually on the weekends, especially on days where there is very little wind, you will see a lot of club members out with their R/C airplanes flying.  I was once a member of the Pine Barrens back in 2002 but have not reapplied for my membership because the R/C plane I own, well, I crashed it and haven't taken the time or money to repair it.  Remember to stand behind the fence at ALL TIMES for safety.

South Jersey Regional Airport is located in Medford, NJ (though it is disputed to be in Mt. Holly, Mt. Laurel, or Lumberton, but to me, it's Medford).  To reach it from Interstate 295, take Exit 40 and follow Route 38 East.  Turn right at the light for Ark Road and go through two traffic lights.  Once you come to a four-way stop, turn left onto Stacy Haines Road.  South Jersey Regional Airport will be on your left.  From Route 70 heading towards Lakehurst, turn left at the traffic light for Hartford Road.  Stay on Hartford Road for a little while (going past Lenape High School, which will be on your left) and turn right at the next traffic light past the high school.  That is Elbo Lane.  At the four-way stop, go straight through.  South Jersey Regional Airport will be on your left.

This is my local airport.  I live six miles away and normally it would take me about ten minutes to get to South Jersey Regional from my house.

Security

I am pretty sure that you could get stopped by airport workers and police if you are there with a camera.  I have not have that happened to me yet (knock on wood) but remember - you are on airport property, so taking pictures and video could be considered suspicious activity.  Don't forget - check out the Air Victory Museum while you're there!
