1997 Woodbine Airshow

Written on May 17, 2000.

As far as I'm concerned, this was merely an airshow plus an arts & crafts show put together into one. Plane rides were given out at $10 per person. It was basically a community event that was put together on the Woodbine Airport.

Review

This was a nice little airshow. There was very little in concern of demonstrations, except for the US Coast Guard, who put on a very well done Search & Rescue demo. As I said before, they had airplane rides for people in little single-engined planes for about $10 a person. That was basically it for activity. Also, there was the occasional airliner or military airplane that was in the area. The weather was absolutely beautiful. That's about it.

The static displays consisted of privately owned airplanes, mostly Cessnas, Pipers, Mooneys, and Beechcrafts. The US Coast Guard had their Daulphin helicopter on display. The FAA had their own Beech King Air on display, and open for a sit inside. An old helicopter equipped with a mosquito sprayer was also open for looks. Some other planes on display included what looked like a Stearman biplane and a Cessna 337.
